Tottenham's Juan Foyth set for permanent Villarreal move?

Villarreal are reportedly keen to land Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth on a permanent deal this summer.

The Argentinian defender has struggled for consistent starts in La Liga under Unai Emery, but he played a starring role in his side's triumphant Europa League campaign.

Foyth started 10 of the Yellow Submarine's 12 matches in Europe's second tier competition - playing 88 minutes in the final against Manchester United - and Villarreal supposedly want to keep him on the books beyond the summer.

According to AS, striking a permanent deal for Foyth is a priority for Villarreal, and the 23-year-old is also hopeful of remaining in La Liga with the Europa League champions.

The report adds that the Yellow Submarine want to negotiate a lower fee than the £12.8m option-to-buy clause in his loan deal, but Spurs are not willing to reduce the price, in spite of the fact that the South American does not appear to have a future at the club.

Foyth - who has flourished as a right-back for Villarreal this term - still has another two years left to run on his Tottenham deal, and he has scored one goal in 32 appearances for the North London club.
