USA 'sounding out Jurgen Klinsmann replacements'

The USA are reportedly eyeing potential successors to manager Jurgen Klinsmann.

The USA have been sounding out potential replacements for manager Jurgen Klinsmann since late last year, according to a report.

Governing body the US Soccer Federation has contacted Los Angeles Galaxy boss Bruce Arena and Sporting Kansas City coach Peter Vermes over the last 12 months to gauge their suitability, ESPN claims.

Klinsmann is under mounting pressure following World Cup qualifying defeats to Mexico and Costa Rica, with the latter thrashing his side 4-0.

The German's current assistant Tab Ramos has also been touted as a contender for the top job should the US choose to part ways with the former Tottenham Hotspur player.

Arena managed the USA between 1998 and 2006, guiding the team to the World Cup quarter-finals in 2002, and has been linked with a return despite recently signing a two-year contract extension with LA Galaxy.
