Stoke appeal Huth red card

Stoke City have lodged an appeal with the Football Association against the red card that was handed to Robert Huth on Saturday afternoon.

The German defender received his marching orders from referee Martin Atkinson for a challenge on Sunderland midfielder David Meyler.

Potters manager Tony Pulis was angry with the decision, claiming that Meyler had deliberately tried to get Huth sent off.

Stoke are planning to use photographic and television replay evidence in a bid to get Huth's red card overturned.

As is stands, Huth is suspended for three matches.
