Jermaine Pennant to face no further action over alleged assault

Pennant escapes action over 'assault'

Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant will face no further action after being arrested for alleged assault a fortnight ago.

The former Liverpool player was detained by Greater Manchester police on suspicion of assaulting a woman in a nightclub.

The authorities have confirmed that the case regarding the alleged incident has been dropped, which took place just hours before Pennant collided with a silver Audi while driving his BMW while under the influence of alcohol.

Pennant was hit with a drink-driving charge following the crash.
