Peter Crouch looking for return to international football

Crouch looking for England recall

Stoke City striker Peter Crouch has admitted that he still hopes to play for England, despite falling out of favour with manager Fabio Capello.

The 30-year-old last played for the national side in October 2010, but recent strikes against Manchester United and Besiktas have shown that he still has the goalscoring touch.

"I am still thinking about England, without a doubt," he said. "I've never wanted to retire from England or anything like that, I want to play for as long as I can.

"I still believe I've got goals and stuff to offer for England and, if selected, I'm sure I'll do well."

Crouch also believes that his 22 goals in 42 England appearances is enough to put him in contention for a recall.

"My record stands up against anyone and if given the opportunities I believe I'll take them," he added.

The forward is likely to start for the Potters in their Premier League encounter with Swansea City on Sunday.
