Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente reportedly emerges as a summer transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a summer move for Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente.

The 25-year-old left Real Madrid for Sociedad in 2017 and has made 57 appearances for the Basque outfit in all competitions, including 23 outings during the 2018-19 campaign.

Liverpool were linked with a move for the Spaniard earlier this year, with the Reds allegedly attracted by a potential £27m deal in this summer's transfer window.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham are also showing an interest in the four-time Spain international, who has a release clause of £45m inserted into a contract which runs until June 2022.

Llorente's ability to play at both right-back and in central defence could potentially be enticing for Spurs, who have already sold Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid this summer.

Danny Rose, meanwhile, is also expected to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of the 2019-20 campaign, suggesting that Mauricio Pochettino's side will soon dip into the market for defenders.
