Jose Mourinho confirms Tottenham Hotspur will sign Giovani Lo Celso

Jose Mourinho confirms that Tottenham Hotspur will complete a permanent move for Argentine international Giovani Lo Celso.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that his club will complete a permanent move for Giovani Lo Celso before the end of the January transfer window.

The Argentina international is currently on loan at Spurs from Real Betis, and the Premier League club have the option of signing the attacker on a long-term basis before the end of the month.

Speaking after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Southampton in the FA Cup, Mourinho has revealed that the 23-year-old will soon secure a permanent move to the club.

"It's not an obligation, it's an option. I think the boy is earning the decision. He's making an easy decision for the club to execute the option," Mourinho told reporters.

"Incredible evolution since I arrived. Barely played a game, I think he played against Red Star Belgrade, with me a little bit difficult to come in the first few weeks.

"But he understood what we wanted. Good learner, good kid and I think by himself he made the decision that the club is going to execute the option. That's normal, he earned it."

Lo Celso has scored twice in 20 appearances for Spurs during the 2019-20 campaign.
