Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that it was "important" for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to stay at White Hart Lane following a summer of uncertainty.
The Frenchman was linked with a move to Manchester United amid reports that David de Gea was on the verge of signing for Real Madrid.
However, Lloris, who publicly claimed that he had a desire to play Champions League football, ended up remaining a Spurs player and De Gea signed a new contract at Old Trafford.
"I don't know why you still say that Hugo wants to play Champions League because he is very happy - I told you before," Pochettino told reporters.
"I think it is important in the way that he showed his commitment here and I am happy with him. Hugo is a very important player for us and he is our captain and he is a personality and commitment is important to show for the team."
Lloris signed for Tottenham from Lyon in 2012.
