Tottenham Hotspur's Erik Lamela reveals "small calf injury"

Tottenham winger Erik Lamela reveals on Twitter that he was forced to miss their 5-3 win over Chelsea at White Hart Lane because of a "small calf injury".

Erik Lamela has revealed that he missed Tottenham Hotspur's shock 5-3 win over Chelsea on New Year's Day because of a "small calf injury".

The £30m winger, who has started 15 of Tottenham's 20 Premier League games this season, was not in the squad for the London derby at White Hart Lane.

Lamela is not expected to be risked when Spurs travel to Burnley in the third round of the FA Cup on Monday.

In the Argentine's absence, Andros Townsend kept his place in Mauricio Pochettino's lineup and got their third goal from the penalty spot. Harry Kane [two], Nacer Chadli and Danny Rose were the other scorers.
