Lloris: Tottenham's Europa League exit "a disgrace"

Skipper Hugo Lloris has called Tottenham Hotspur's performance against Dinamo Zagreb "a disgrace" after his side lost 3-0 to exit the Europa League.

Spurs held a 2-0 lead heading in Thursday's second leg at Stadion Maksimir thanks to Harry Kane's brace in the reverse game, but Mislav Orsic struck three times in the Croatian capital to seal a remarkable 3-2 aggregate win.

The result means Tottenham are the first English side to take a two-goal advantage into the second leg of a European knockout tie and fail to progress since Manchester City against Monaco in the Champions League last 16 five years ago.

Jose Mourinho accused his players of lacking professionalism against Dinamo, and Lloris also did not hold back when it came to giving an assessment of Tottenham's display.

"I think we are more than disappointed, it is a disgrace," he told BT Sport. "I hope everyone in the changing room feels responsible.

"The taste of defeat is more than painful. We are a club full of ambition, I just think at the moment it is a reflection of what is going on in the club.

"We have a lack of basics, fundamentals, our performances are just in relation of that. Mentally we should be stronger, more competitive.

"When you are not ready at this level, you pay. There is quality everywhere and if you don't respect the opponent they can punish you, that's what happened."

Tottenham return to Premier League action on Sunday with a trip to Aston Villa.
