Spain head coach Vicente del Bosque has refused to be critical of his side following the 1-0 loss to Germany on Tuesday evening.
Toni Kroos scored the winner in the 89th minute to condemn the hosts to defeat in Vigo, but Del Bosque believes that there were plenty of positives to take from the performance.
"We are in a period of transition and we want to continue looking to the future with optimism," the Spain boss told reporters. "But we are not entirely happy with the outcome.
"I agree with the assessment that it was an even and balanced game.
"We showed that we could out-play them at times, but we must praise Toni Kroos's goal."
Spain have lost five of their past nine games.
