Scott Brown, Stuart Armstrong ruled out of World Cup qualifiers

Injured Celtic duo Scott Brown and Stuart Armstrong will play no part in Scotland's World Cup qualifying double-header against Slovakia and Slovenia.

Scotland have been dealt a major blow ahead of their make-or-break World Cup qualifiers against Slovakia and Slovenia as Scott Brown and Stuart Armstrong will miss out through injury.

The Celtic duo have been ruled out indefinitely with a hamstring and calf injury respectively, meaning that they will play no part in the Tartan Army's crucial double-header over the next 10 days.

Brown limped off against Anderlecht in midweek, while Armstrong sat out that Champions League clash in Brussels entirely.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed on Friday afternoon that both players will definitely miss their national side's games against Slovakia and Slovenia.

Scotland are currently fourth in Group F, six points behind leaders England but still in with a real chance of finishing second.
