Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has revealed that he turned down a move to the Premier League to commit his future to Schalke.
The Dutch striker signed a two-year contract extension in December and will now remain with the Royal Blues until June 2015.
"I thought about England, I have never played there," he told WAZ. "It was between Schalke or the Premier League.
"I always had a good feeling about Schalke, but I wanted to wait and see where we are heading. And I had to find out what I want. Leaving Schalke after three years would have been a good time to make the move.
"I've never spent more than three years at one club and it will now be five at Schalke - nearly half my career. In November I knew that was what I wanted. I told my agent, 'let's do the Schalke deal'."
Huntelaar joined Schalke from AC Milan in 2010.
