Preview: San Marino Under-21 vs. England Under-21

San Marino Under-21 vs. England Under-21

England Under-21 continue their qualification campaign for the 2015 European Championships with a trip to San Marino Under-21 on Thursday.

The home side currently sit bottom of Group 1, but they will enter the match full of confidence following their 1-0 win over Wales in their own stadium last month.

England, meanwhile, enter the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Finland, but they did pick up three points in their opening qualifier against Moldova on September 5. A total of four points has left Gareth Southgate's side in fourth position in Group 1, but they have two games in hand.

The last time the two nations met at this level was in November 1993, when former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler was on the scoresheet in a 4-0 win for England.

San Marino have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the match and could remain unchanged from the side that overcame Wales last month.

That would allow Eugenio Colombini to captain the team from midfield, while Maximiliano Baizan and Luca Tosi are also expected to start.

England boss Southgate, meanwhile, named a strong 24-man party last week with Liverpool's Raheem Sterling and fit-again Blackpool winger Thomas Ince both pushing for spots in the starting lineup.

West Ham United's Ravel Morrison is also in the squad for the first time and could start in the middle of midfield, while in-form West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino and Manchester United's Wilfried Zaha could feature in attack.

Burnley striker Danny Ings, who has scored 11 goals in 14 games for his club this season, is also a new face in the squad.
