Sports Mole's La Liga Team of the Week

Sports Mole picks out its 11 star performers from this week's La Liga action.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid all recorded wins at the weekend as the La Liga table starts to take shape with six matches played.

All three were in action on Saturday, with Real Madrid opening the action with an impressive 2-0 win over Villarreal, before Barcelona put six unanswered goals past Granada.

Atletico were in equally impressive form – beating previously unbeaten Sevilla 4-0 at the Vicente Calderon to continue their unbeaten start to their league defence.

The week's action started on Friday evening, where Celta Vigo continued their impressive start to the season with a 1-0 win over Elche.

On Saturday, aside from the big three, Athletic Bilbao were held to a goalless draw at home to Eibar, before Rayo Vallecano continued their solid run of form with a 2-0 win at basement side Levante.

Getafe opened Sunday's action with a 1-0 win over Malaga, before Almeria heaped more misery on Deportivo La Coruna with a 1-0 success away from home.

Real Sociedad and Valencia then shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the Anoeta, before the action was concluded with a goalless draw between Cordoba and Espanyol.

Here, Sports Mole picks out its 11 star performers from this week's La Liga action.

Diego Alves (Valencia)
Valencia took the lead against Real Sociedad on Sunday, but were then forced to defend for much of the 90 minutes. Los Che needed their Brazilian goalkeeper to be in top form and that was indeed the case as Alves made save after save in what was a stunning performance from the stopper.

Ximo Navarro (Almeria)
Almeria needed a strong defensive performance to repel Deportivo La Coruna in their 1-0 win over the newly-promoted side on Sunday and Navarro was a big part of that. The 24-year-old also proved an attacking threat when he was allowed to venture forward.
Raphael Varane (Real Madrid)
The centre-back staked his claim for an automatic spot in the Real Madrid XI with a faultless display in his side's 2-0 win over Villarreal at the weekend. The Frenchman radiated class each time he had possession of the ball, while he performed his defensive duties with ease.
Diego Godin (Atletico Madrid)
Sevilla forward Carlos Bacca has made a fine start to the season, but the Colombian struggled in his side's 4-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Saturday due to the performance of Godin. The centre-back was dominant in the air and calm in possession of the ball.

Sergio Canales (Real Sociedad)
Canales scored Real Sociedad's equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Valencia at the weekend. The goal came during a period where Los Che were threatening to run away with the match and the contest changed from that moment. His goal capped a classy display from the talented midfielder.
Luka Modric (Real Madrid)
The Croatian scored Real Madrid's opener in their 2-0 win at Villarreal on Saturday, but it was his all-round performance that really caught the eye. The midfielder dominated the battle in the middle of the park, while his range of passing caused the home side all sorts of problems.
Koke (Atletico Madrid)
Koke played a key role in Atletico Madrid's 4-0 win over Sevilla on Saturday, first opening the scoring after 19 minutes, before setting up Raul Jimenez for his first Atletico goal late on. The Spaniard's delivery from set pieces was excellent, while he controlled the middle of the park.
Michel (Getafe)
The 26-year-old scored the decisive goal as Getafe beat Malaga 1-0 in the Spanish capital on Sunday. It was a match of few clear opportunities, but Michel was involved in every positive piece of play for the home side, who picked up just their second league win of the season.

Neymar (Barcelona)
The Brazilian continued his brilliant start to the season with a hat-trick in Barcelona's 6-0 win over Granada on Saturday. The away side just could not deal with the attacker's movement in the final third in what was a sensational display.
Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
As mentioned, Neymar scored a hat-trick in Barcelona's 6-0 win over Granada, but Messi surpassed the Brazilian's performance with two goals and two assists. The Argentine now has seven assists this season and appears to be back to his best.
Leo Baptistao (Rayo Vallecano)
Back on his old stomping ground, Baptistao took his tally to four goals in his last two league games with a double against Levante. It did not work out at Atletico Madrid for the Brazilian, but there is no doubting his talent.
