Speaking to French media outlet RTL after France's World Cup qualifying draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina yesterday, Karim Benzema was asked about his compatriot, Kylian Mbappe. Benzema said that Mbappe would eventually switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid.
It is understood that Real Madrid tried three times to lure the player from PSG, including a potentially world-record-breaking, €220m-plus offer, but PSG rejected the bid.
The 22-year-old now has to wait until next summer to move to the Spanish giant when he becomes a free agent, and Benzema is adamant that Mbappe will not waste the opportunity to move to Madrid.
"He is a player who will play for Real Madrid one day or another," said Benzema. "We get along really well and I would like him to be with me today in Madrid."
Both players started in the 1-1 draw against Bosnia on Thursday, where Edin Dzeko broke the deadlock, but Antoine Griezmann scored a leveller moments later.
"We would have liked to win this match there, in France, in front of our audience," Benzema continued. "In the first half, we made good moves, in the second half, with the red card, we fell back a little, which is normal when we play one less."
France are still on top of qualifying Group D with their current points.
