Connolly given coaching role at Portsmouth

Portsmouth striker David Connolly has been given a coaching role at the League Two club.

The 36-year-old has scored 11 goals in 23 games since arriving at Fratton Park from Southampton in December.

"David has played at the highest level and for some very good clubs - his knowledge is excellent," manager Guy Whittingham told the club's official website.

"He will remain, first and foremost, an important player for us, but he wanted to learn more about the coaching side of the game."

Portsmouth are currently in 15th place in the League Two table.
