Ten women have been named on the shortlist to win the 2011 FIFA Ballon d'Or award.

Ten women have been announced on the shortlist for the 2011 FIFA Ballon d'Or award.

The list of candidates has been compiled by members of the FIFA committee and experts from France Football.

Included on the list is 25-year-old Brazilian Marta, who won the award last year.

FIFA Ballon d'Or shortlist: Sonia Bompastor (France), Kerstin Garefrekes (Germany), Marta (Brazil), Aya Miyama (Japan), Alex Morgan (USA), Louisa Necib (France), Homare Sawa (Japan), Lotta Schelin (Sweden), Hope Solo (USA), Abby Wambach (USA).

Despite there being no English players on the list, coach Hope Powell has been nominated to win the manager's award.

The winners will be named in January 2012.
