Sheffield FC 'receives Qatari investment'

The oldest football team in the world, Sheffield FC, has reportedly become the first English club to receive Qatari investment.

Sheffield FC was the world's first football team when it was founded in 1857 and it has now turned to one of football's newest powerhouses for key investment.

According to The AP, Qatar has invested £100,000 which will help Sheffield FC relocate to its former home at Olive Grove in Sheffield.

"This is not about Qatar muscling in," Sheffield FC chairman Richard Tims said. "This is about having a catalyst that makes everyone sit up and take note... a partnership between the new kids on the block and the world's first football club protecting the heritage of football."

Sheffield FC play in the Northern South branch of non-league division one, seven tiers below the Premier League.
