FC Twente's chairman tells Steve McClaren that he will not be sacked before the end of the season.

Former England manager Steve McClaren has been informed that his job at FC Twente is not under threat.

The Dutch outfit have collected just six points from their last five outings in the Eredivisie, while they also finished bottom of their Europa League group.

However, chairman Joop Munsterman has insisted that he has no intention of parting company with his manager.

"Steve is our head coach, our manager in football and that does not change. We really cannot dismiss him, that would have no effect," he told De Telegraaf. "You send someone away and bring in another, but that does not really help.

"McClaren's contract has half a year left on it and we intend for him to serve that, as we have always done."

Twente are currently third in their domestic league.
