Hull takeover a long way off, says head coach Nigel Adkins

Reports have linked former owner Paul Duffen with a purchase of the Sky Bet Championship outfit.

Hull head coach Nigel Adkins has admitted that a takeover of the club might not be imminent.

Reports have linked former owner Paul Duffen, and two other possible buyers, with a purchase of the Sky Bet Championship outfit from the Allam family.

Adkins said he had spoken with owner Assem Allam and added: “It’s a long way from being done, from what I can make out.”

Duffen, who owned the club between 2007 and 2009 and took Hull into the Premier League for the first time, is reported to be going through the process of due diligence.

Ahead of Hull’s game with Sheffield United on Saturday, Adkins was asked if he expected to be kept in the loop about moves to sell the club.

He said: “I’d like to think I’ll be made aware of it.

“I have spoken with the owner. I’ve asked him the question several times before about this situation because I know what’s it’s like when takeovers come in, because I’ve been at several clubs when things like that have happened.

“I’m sure there are plenty of people who would like to become owners of the club. We will see what happens in the future.”

Adkins added: “I think there’s been talks of a possible takeover for several years. The owner’s come out not so long ago and said he’s actively looking to sell the football club.”
