Referee Babak Rafati has been discharged from hospital following his unsuccessful suicide attempt on Saturday, the German Football Federation has confirmed.
The 41-year-old was reportedly found in his hotel room covered in blood by his two assistant referees and the fourth official hours before Saturday's Bundesliga clash between Cologne and Mainz, which was subsequently postponed.
A statement, which was has come via Rafati's lawyer, requested that the official receive "peace and quiet and, above all, time and patience".
Rafati, who works as a banker, has been officiating matches in the Bundesliga since 2005.
