The Premier League club of a player arrested on suspicion of rape on Monday knew about a previous allegation against them, according to a report.
A footballer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested by police at his home in North London on Monday following two separate allegations of rape against a woman back in 2021.
The player has been released on bail until a date in August following the arrest, whilst police investigations continue.
Following quizzing over an alleged attack on holiday last month, two further incidents have come to light from a different woman dating back to 2021, which have led to the arrest.
However, according to The Sun, the player's club was made aware of the first allegation last year and continued to allow the player to play in the first team despite the claims.
The report outlines how the latest alleged victim, in her 20s, claimed she was raped during a holiday last month, and returned home to the UK after fleeing the resort.
The woman has reportedly shown evidence of bruising to the police following the attack, during discussions following her return to the country.
