Britons involved in Australia match-fixing investigation

British players are among those who have been arrested by Australian police as part of their alleged match-fixing investigation.

Ten people - a coach and nine players - are under suspicion after the authorities were provided with information by the Football Federation of Australia (FFA).

"It is believed the players and staff involved are all affiliated with the one sporting club," read a Victoria Police statement.

"Many of the players arrested are from the United Kingdom, playing in the Victorian league in their off-season."

The club in question is believed to be second-tier Victorian Premier League side Southern Stars, and any person found guilty of the allegations could face up to 10 years in prison.
