Bolton chairman Ken Anderson has reached an agreement with the Professional Footballers’ Association to pay the club’s wages for November.
PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor, whose position has recently been heavily criticised, has been representing the Bolton players in talks with Anderson.
This is the latest in a series of financial problems for the Championship club this season. In the summer, players went on strike and pre-season friendlies had to be called off after they were not paid.
Bolton avoided administration in September after former owner Eddie Davies gave the club a loan just days before he died.
However, Anderson said in a statement on Bolton’s official website on Monday that a solution has been reached.
He said: “During the conversation with Gordon we reached an agreement, but unfortunately the documentation that subsequently followed on Friday did not reflect what I thought had been agreed, which further delayed everything yet again.
“I had another conversation with Gordon yesterday and what l thought had been agreed is now accepted and hopefully will bring this matter to a swift end and we can all move on.”
Anderson went on to insist there will be no mass exodus of players during the January transfer window in order to try to balance the club’s books.
“To make it absolutely clear, all our players are under contract with the exception of Stephen Ireland and Gary O‘Neil, whose contracts end early January and we will discuss the position with both of them over the next few weeks,” said Anderson.
“There has been some media speculation about a fire sale in January, but l can assure you that there is absolutely no truth or financial need for this.”
Bolton are 23rd in the Championship table and without a league win in 11 matches, a run which includes eight defeats.
