5 things we learned from the Ladbrokes Premiership this weekend

Celtic went top of the Ladbrokes Premiership on Saturday with a 5-1 win over Kilmarnock at Parkhead, while Rangers moved second with a 1-1 draw at Dundee on Sunday.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at five things we learned about Scottish football this weekend.

Kilmarnock are off top spot

The Ayrshire club's fans found themselves in dreamland on Wednesday night when victory over Livingston and setbacks for Celtic and Rangers propelled their team to the top of the table. It was fun while it lasted but only up until 3pm on Saturday as the champions ruthlessly knocked them off the summit with a 5-1 win – their first victory over Killie in five matches.

Edinburgh is celebrating again

Neither Hearts nor Hibernian had tasted victory in their previous seven games so there was relief at both ends of the capital as they achieved a 1-0 double over the Premiership's Lanarkshire pair. Neither team were particularly convincing as Hearts beat Motherwell and Hibs won in Hamilton, but ending the rut was the key outcome.

St Mirren lost their bottle

That was the stark assessment of manager Oran Kearney after his side let slip a half-time lead to lose 3-1 at Livingston. An "embarrassed" Kearney added that his players lacked bravery to take the ball as Livi turned the game on its head.

Livingston have a goalscorer

With Dolly Menga their only available experienced striker for most of the season, Livingston have had to share the goals around – and they have generally done a pretty good job of it. But Menga has only scored once and manager Gary Holt would have been delighted to welcome Ryan Hardie back into the fold following injury. The on-loan Rangers player scored on his first start of the season.

Kenny Miller is still a goalscorer

The veteran striker is playing at the top of his game after signing for Dundee in August following a spell as player/manager at Livingston. The 38-year-old scored his sixth goal in four games as Dundee drew 1-1 with his former club Rangers at the Kilmac Stadium at Dens Park and it proved enough to take Jim McIntyre's side off the bottom of the table.
