Newcastle United 'make contact with Bayern Munich over Thomas Muller'

Newcastle United have allegedly expressed an interest in signing Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller.

The Magpies spent over £90m during the January transfer window as they bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

However, despite the possibility of losing their top-flight status, the club's owners already have one eye on formulating plans ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to Bild, Newcastle have already made contact with Bayern regarding the potential transfer of Muller in the future.

The Germany international, who has enjoyed a legendary career at the Allianz Arena, has just 17 months remaining on his contract.

Nevertheless, while the report acknowledges that Bayern are under pressure to negotiate fresh terms with the attacker, it casts doubt over whether Muller would ever give any serious thought to moving to St James' Park at the end of the season.
