Alan Pardew rings the changes for Newcastle's Europa League opener against Maritimo, with strike pair Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse among those rested.

Alan Pardew has made seven changes for Newcastle United's Europa League opener against Maritimo tonight.

The Magpies boss sticks with the same back four that played in the 2-2 draw with Everton on Monday but opts for a completely fresh midfield and attack, with Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse among those rested.

Gabriel Obertan and Shola Ameobi are among those squad players who return to the lineup, while goalkeeper Rob Elliot is handed just his second start since arriving from Charlton Atheltic in 2011.

Youngsters Gaël Bigirimana, Haris Vuckic and Romain Amalfitano are all given opportunities to showcase their first-team credentials.

Newcastle: Elliot; Perch, Williamson, S.Taylor, Santon; Bigirimana, Gosling, Obertan, Vuckic, Amalfitano; Shola Ameobi

Maritimo: Salin; Briguel, Guilherme, Roberge, Olim; Miranda, Luiz; Heldon, Simao, Sami; Dias
