Preview: CF Montreal vs. New York Red Bulls - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Major League Soccer clash between CF Montreal and New York Red Bulls, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

In search of a fourth Major League Soccer win on the bounce, high-flying CF Montreal welcome New York Red Bulls to the Saputo Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, the away side make the trip in search of back to back wins for the first time since early July having returned to winning ways last time out.

New York Red Bulls made it two wins in three games by beating Inter Miami 3-1 when the teams clashed at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday morning.

Gerhard Struber's men trailed to Gonzalo Higuain's early strike before showing great powers of recovery to hit back through Lewis Morgan, Daniel Edelman and Caden Clark.

The Metro remain fourth in the Eastern Conference table and look well on course to secure a place in the post-season as the regular season approaches its end.

Next up for them is the trip to an opposing ground where they have lost six straight games and are without a victory in nine matches dating back to April 2014.

Currently with the best record on the road in the division, Wednesday's visitors will be looking to end their away-day woes against their next hosts.

CF Montreal made it four away wins on the trot as they saw off the threat of Chicago Fire in a 2-0 triumph at the Soldier Field on Sunday.

Wilfried Nancy's men broke the deadlock through Ismael Kone after which Robin Quioto doubled the lead five minutes later to get the job done.

Having picked up 13 of the last 15 points available, L'Impact currently sit second in the Eastern Conference, five points behind Philadelphia Union with a game in hand.

Off the back of clean sheets in three of their most recent four home outings, Wednesday's visitors will be hopeful of another assured display at the back to serve as a platform to build upon at the other end.

We say: CF Montreal 1-0 New York Red Bulls

New York Red Bulls have largely been on the receiving end in the previous editions of this fixture and while we anticipate a close game this time around, we fancy CF Montreal to just about come out on top at the sound of the final whistle.
