A-League leaders Perth Glory held to goalless draw by Melbourne City

Perth Glory extend their advantage at the top of the A-League ladder by another point courtesy of a 0-0 draw away at Melbourne City.

Perth Glory remain top of the A-League ladder despite being held to a goalless draw by Melbourne City at AAMI Park this morning.

The Violets, who have now failed to win any of their last five games, end the weekend two points ahead of Melbourne Victory, who still have a game in hand to play.

Glory do not boast the greatest of records at this ground, failing to win in their last four trips here, but it was they who made the more positive start when top scorer Andy Keogh was played through early on, only to be flagged for offside.

An end-to-end opening to the contest saw both sides probe, although it was the hosts who managed to get the first meaningful attempt away when Josh Kennedy forced Danny Vukovic to tip his headed attempt over the bar.

Jacob Melling was the next City player to test Vukovic with a long-range drive which was palmed away, but Glory began to grow more into the game through Sidnei Sciola, who was causing some problems for the opposition.

Keogh saw his effort curl narrowly wide in the last opening of the first half as the evenly-matched sides went into the break level.

The game continued in a similar fashion following the restart, with Sciola looking dangerous, but ultimately there was to be no way through for either side.

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City forward Keogh, who has already found the net nine times this season, was guilty of sending a couple of decent chances wide as the contest petered out.

Melbourne, now without a goal in three games, stay in seventh place in the league standings following this stalemate.
