Newcastle United are reportedly determined to win the race for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
Despite the Croatia international having seven months left on his contract, Inter remain confident of eventually agreeing fresh terms with one of their key men.
However, the 29-year-old will soon be in a position where he can hold discussions with a number of foreign clubs, including the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, according to The Athletic, the new Magpies hierarchy are willing to pay "crazy money" to get a deal for Brozovic over the line.
While Newcastle currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table, they are expected to make several high-profile additions in January.
The report adds that, as it stands, Brozovic has no interest in moving to St James' Park when their top-flight status is under real threat.
