Manchester United have reportedly informed RB Leipzig that they are prepared to make a bid for Benjamin Sesko.
The Red Devils have already strengthened their attacking ranks with the additions of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
However, they are still on the lookout for a new number nine to replace or provide competition to Rasmus Hojlund.
After being linked with Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, Man United appear to have turned their focus to signing Sesko from Leipzig.
Man United willing to make Sesko bid
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Man United have made Leipzig aware of their willingness to submit a formal bid.
However, the Red Devils will not table an official offer until Sesko makes it clear that he is open to a move to Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim's side are still facing competition from Newcastle United, who may need to replace Alexander Isak amid ongoing speculation linking him with Liverpool.
Newcastle are also willing to submit a transfer offer and match the player's salary demands.
The two Premier League sides are now waiting for Sesko to decide in the coming days which club he would rather join this summer.
Why is Sesko attracting significant interest?
Sesko looks set to leave Leipzig despite having four years left to run on his deal at the Red Bull Arena.
The Slovenia international has developed a reputation as one of Europe's brightest forwards during his two-year stay with the German club.
Sesko has scored 39 goals in 87 competitive appearances for Leipzig, including 21 strikes in 45 competitive matches last term.
At 22, Sesko still has room to grow and develop his game, making him an enticing proposition for Man United and Newcastle.
