Report: Manchester United to sign Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte

Manchester United are close to sealing the transfer of Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte, according to reports.

The 20-year-old has become a key member of the Bilbao back line and is tipped to earn a call-up to the full France squad after impressing at youth level.

According to The Daily Star, a deal to take Laporte to Old Trafford, believed to be in the region of £25m, is "80% done".

Laporte is reportedly a boyhood Red Devils fan and would bolster United's fragile centre-back options.
