Team News: Robin van Persie in for Manchester United

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie starts against his former club but Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky are out for Arsenal.

Robin van Persie has returned to the Manchester United starting XI for today's match against Arsenal.

The former Gunners striker was on the bench for the midweek clash against Real Sociedad, but he partners Wayne Rooney in attack at Old Trafford.

Phil Jones and Shinji Kagawa play in midfield for the Red Devils, but Arsenal's preparations have been hit by a bug that deprives them of Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky.

This means that Thomas Vermaelen and Mathieu Flamini come in. Other than that, it is a familiar looking Arsenal side.

Manchester United: De Gea; Smalling, Vidic, Evans, Evra; Valencia, Jones, Carrick, Kagawa; Rooney, van Persie

Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Arteta, Flamini, Ramsey, Cazorla, Ozil, Giroud
