McTominay: 'Man United players are behind Solskjaer'

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has insisted that "the whole club" are behind head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite the team's poor start to the season.

The Red Devils have lost two of their first three Premier League games of the campaign and suffered a 6-1 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last time out.

A recent report claimed that Bruno Fernandes had lost faith in Solskjaer, while a number of the club's players allegedly believe that the Norwegian will be sacked.

McTominay, though, has insisted that the squad are behind their manager, who will be under pressure to deliver a positive result away to Newcastle United this weekend.

"The whole club is behind him," McTominay told TV2. "We believe in every word he says, and it's not just him. We trust every word from Mike Phelan, Kieran McKenna, Michael Carrick and the entire support staff."

United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is said to be prepared to sack Solskjaer if results do not improve, with former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino on standby.
