Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic: 'Wayne Rooney in best shape'

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has claimed that Wayne Rooney is as fit as he has seen him for five years.

The 27-year-old striker was criticised in some quarters last season over his physical condition.

"Wayne is in the best shape I have seen him in the last five years," the Daily Mail quotes Vidic as saying.

"I haven't talked to Wayne about his future but I have seen him train extremely well over the last few days and am looking forward to him playing for the club and playing his best."

New United boss David Moyes recently insisted that Rooney was not for sale amid uncertainty over his future.
