Cristiano Ronaldo admits that he found the English Premier League more "competitive" than Spain's La Liga.

Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo has stated his belief that the Premier League is better than La Liga.

The Portuguese international spent six years in England's top flight with Manchester United before opting to join the Spanish champions in the summer of 2009.

Having now experienced both leagues, the 27-year-old has admitted that the Premier League is the more "competitive" of the two.

"I still watch the Premier League," he told The People. "It is the most competitive league in the world and, in my opinion, ahead of Spain.

"It is fantastic. You have a lot of brilliant players and the league is so intense, it's amazing. I watch it in my home every week.

"Of course I always look to see how United have done if I cannot watch their game."

Ronaldo has also recently tipped his former team to win the Premier League title this season.
