Michael Carrick addresses Ralf Rangnick rumours

Michael Carrick has insisted that he is only focused on leading Manchester United into Sunday's Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The caretaker manager led the Red Devils to a 2-0 victory over Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday and will again be in the dugout for the clash with the Blues in London.

Man United are said to be on the verge of naming Ralf Rangnick as their boss for the remainder of the season, but Carrick has refused to confirm whether the German will be arriving in the near future.

"From my point of view not a lot, speculation and reports are just that. My head is just on the game," Carrick told reporters during Friday's press conference.

"There's a lot of different styles and there's a good group of players here. Whoever comes in and whatever is implemented I'm sure they can adapt, there's some real good talent within the squad, sure they'll look forward to what's ahead.

"My pure focus is on preparing the team as best as I can. It's a huge responsibility that I have at the moment and I've given it everything. Anything after Sunday is not in my thoughts at the moment."

Rangnick, who is currently head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow, will allegedly become a consultant for Man United when his contract as interim manager comes to an end in May.
