Phil Jones: We'll fight back after Manchester City triumph

Jones: 'Man City killed us'

Phil Jones believes that Manchester United will come out fighting next season following Manchester City's last-gasp victory to become Premier League champions.

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has claimed that his first season at Old Trafford has been a "learning curve" after the disappointment of losing the Premier League title to local rivals Manchester City.

The Red Devils were on course to retaining their position as English champions on the final day of the season. However, two injury-time goals for City against Queens Park Rangers ruined the club's hopes of finishing at the top.

"I thought we'd pulled off the impossible at first," Jones told the club's official website. "But then City scored two goals in quick succession and that killed us.

"I'll take that on board with what I've learned this season. It's been a massive learning curve for me. I've played a lot of games this season and I've really enjoyed playing.

"City have won the title this year but hopefully we'll be back next season, fighting and ready to go again."

Before the 20-year-old can launch a comeback with United, the former Blackburn Rovers player will try to clinch success with England in this summer's European Championships.
