Ighalo modelling game on Yorke, Cole

Odion Ighalo has acknowledged that he has analysed the playing styles of Manchester United legends Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole.

Despite criticism upon his arrival at Old Trafford in January, Ighalo contributed four goals in all competitions before football was suspended due to the coronavirus.

Although he has endured indifferent periods during his career, the Nigeria international has revealed that he has paid particular attention to the likes of Yorke and Cole over the years in a bid to improve his game.

Speaking to the club's official website, the 30-year-old said: "Yeah, I would say that as a striker I watched Andy Cole a lot and Dwight Yorke. They were great strikers and scored a lot of goals.

"So I would watch their movements, the way they played, the way they created space for themselves, watching the way they met crosses behind defenders. I learned all of that and it has helped me a lot in my football career."

Cole contributed 121 goals from 275 appearances for United, while Yorke netted 66 times from 147 outings.
