David de Gea expected to play against Barcelona following injury setback

Louis van Gaal says that he hopes goalkeeper David de Gea will play in Saturday's pre-season friendly against Barcelona after sitting out the last two games with injury.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that he expects goalkeeper David de Gea to be fit for Saturday's pre-season friendly against Barcelona in California.

The Spaniard, who has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, is yet to feature in the Red Devils' pre-season schedule due to an injury.

However, after witnessing his side come through a 3-1 win over San Jose Earthquakes on Tuesday, Van Gaal told reporters that De Gea could feature in this weekend's International Champions Cup match against the Spanish giants.

Meanwhile, the Dutchman has denied suggestions that the club are on the verge of signing a striker.
