Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta says that the club's priority this season is to defend their Premier League title.

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta has admitted that retaining their Premier League title will take priority this season.

Zabaleta has said that City although the club want to improve on last season's group stage exit from the Champions League, winning back-to-back championships would mean more.

He told Four Four Two: "The Premier League remains our main focus because that is the biggest prize in England.

"We know teams will make it even more difficult but we are determined to keep making history with Manchester City. Motivation won't be a problem.

"It takes time before you are established as a top European team and we will learn from our experiences last year."

City begin the 2012-13 campaign at home to newly-promoted Southampton on Sunday.
