Manuel Pellegrini "very happy" with two wins in "difficult week"

Manuel Pellegrini says that he was "very happy" with Manchester City's 1-0 victory at Leicester City.

Manuel Pellegrini has said that he is "very happy" that his side have picked up two wins in "a difficult week".

The Citizens sealed progression to the knockout stages of the Champions League with a 2-0 win against Roma on Wednesday and followed up that impressive performance with a battling 1-0 victory away at Leicester City today.

Shortly after the final whistle at the King Power Stadium, Pellegrini told BBC Sport of his pleasure at picking up another three points.

He said: "I'm very happy because I think today was a very difficult game. It was a difficult week.

"We qualified on Wednesday but after that to play less than 72 hours later, it's not enough to recover 100%.

"That's why it was so important to win 1-0 and to defend the way we did. We don't have strikers. I'm very happy with the whole week and especially with this game."

Today's win was City's seventh straight victory in all competitions.
