Manchester City announce that academy graduate James McAtee has signed a three-year contract extension until the summer of 2026.

Manchester City have announced that midfielder James McAtee has signed a three-year contract extension.

The 19-year-old, who initially had just 17 months remaining on his deal, has now committed his future at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2026.

McAtee follows fellow academy graduates Cole Palmer, Liam Delap and Finley Burns in extending their contracts with the Citizens since the summer.

Speaking to mancity.com, McAtee said: "This is a really proud moment in my career, and I am so grateful to the club for showing their faith in me.

"I've been here since I was 11 and I can't thank everyone enough for everything they have done for me.

"I have worked with some brilliant coaches in the academy, who have put me in a position to be able to train and play with Pep Guardiola and the first team, which is all I've ever wanted to do.

"I've been really pleased with my progress this season and I am sure I am in the right place to keep improving, so it feels amazing to know I will be a Manchester City player for another four years."

McAtee, who had been linked with a potential loan departure in the January transfer window, has featured three times in City's senior side, including his Premier League debut as a substitute against Everton in November.

The England Under-20 international has excelled with the academy team this season, scoring 19 goals and registering five assists in 20 appearances across all youth competitions.
