Report: Liverpool in pole position to beat Tottenham Hotspur in Jordan Veretout bid

Nantes youngster Jordan Veretout reportedly turns down Tottenham Hotspur as they already have too many midfielders in their ranks.

Liverpool have expressed an interest in bringing Jordan Veretout to Anfield following a breakdown in talks between the Nantes midfielder and Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.

The 22-year-old has made over 125 appearances for the Ligue 1 club and is said to be close to a France call-up ahead of Euro 2016.

According to French newspaper L'Equipe, Veretout's advisers aren't keen on a move to White Hart Lane because Spurs already have too many midfielders in their ranks.

As a result, the Reds have now reportedly emerged as the frontrunners for the player's signature, with Nantes said to be holding out for £10m.

Veretout has nine caps for France Under-21s.
