Liverpool will reportedly try to halt Swansea City's attempts to secure the permanent signature of Jonathan de Guzman.

Swans manager Michael Laudrup has been open about his desire to keep the 25-year-old at the Liberty Stadium following his season-long loan from Villarreal.

It is understood that former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to launch a bidding war in an attempt to convince De Guzman to move to Anfield, according to The Metro.

The midfielder has netted five goals for the Swans so far this season.
