Liverpool tell Manchester City to pay cash up front for Raheem Sterling?

Liverpool reportedly tell Manchester City that only a straight cash offer upwards of £45m will make the club consider selling Raheem Sterling.

Liverpool will reportedly refuse to sell Raheem Sterling to Manchester City unless the former Premier League champions offer cash up front.

The England international is believed to have recently attracted a £25m plus £5m add-ons offer from City, but the Reds swiftly rejected it.

According to the Daily Mail, City are expected to increase their bid this week, but they have been warned by Liverpool that only a straight cash deal upwards of £45m will force the Merseyside outfit to consider selling.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is believed to be confident that his team can survive without the 20-year-old, but only if he is allowed to use the cash to reinvest in the squad.

Sterling, who rejected a new contract offer worth £100,000 a week from the Reds earlier this year, has two years remaining on his current deal.
