Ben Davies is reportedly determined to earn an opportunity with Liverpool, despite being loaned out to Sheffield United this season.

Defender Ben Davies is reportedly keen to earn an opportunity in the Liverpool squad next season.

Signed as cover for a number of injuries in January, Davies failed to make a single appearance during the second half of last season and has subsequently being loaned out to Sheffield United.

The former Preston North End player is earning regular game time at Bramall Lane with six outings, having already been made in the Championship.

However, it appears that the 26-year-old still has his sights set on eventually making a positive impression on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Yorkshire Live journalist Nathan Hemmingham told The Blood Red Podcast: "I spoke to Ben recently. He said first and foremost he's not thinking about anything major; it's just about this season and playing again - and playing to the best of his ability and trying to get back to the player he was at Preston when Liverpool came in for him.

"Then in the summer he wants to go back to Liverpool to see if the door is open, because you don't know what happens.

"He wants to have a good pre-season with Liverpool, see where the land lies, and see if he can try and impress the manager, Jurgen Klopp."

Davies possesses a contract at Anfield until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
