Ian Rush compares Mohamed Salah to Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo

Liverpool legend Ian Rush compares in-form Egyptian Mohamed Salah to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Liverpool legend Ian Rush has compared Mohamed Salah to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the Egyptian continues to astound with his performances for the Reds this season.

Salah - a summer arrival from Roma - has scored 36 times in all competitions for Liverpool during the 2017-18 campaign.

Four of those came in his team's 5-0 win over Watford just before the international break, which took his tally of Premier League strikes to 28 for the season.

Rush has paid tribute to the "absolutely amazing" Salah, with the Welshman claiming that the attacker is now at the level of Messi and Ronaldo.

"He's been absolutely amazing but the thing with Salah is that he is so down-to-earth as well," Rush told Sky Sports News.

"The game against Watford was the best I have ever seen him play, he was untouchable - not just because of his four goals but also because he wasn't selfish and was trying to make goals for his teammates.

"There are only two players I have seen that can play at that level, and that's Messi and Ronaldo."

Liverpool return to Premier League action with a trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
