Jordan Henderson: 'I wasn't sure about Roberto Firmino impact'

Jordan Henderson claims that Roberto Firmino can continue to improve at Liverpool, having initially been unaware what exactly the Brazilian was all about.

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson has admitted that he knew little about Roberto Firmino prior to the Brazilian's switch to Anfield last summer.

The former Hoffenheim man joined the Reds in a £29m deal in June, going on to make a big impression in his maiden campaign on Merseyside thus far.

Firmino played a starring role in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Manchester United last time out, scoring one and setting up the other in the Europa League tie, and Henderson believes that there is still more to come from the attacking ace.

Speaking to Liverpool Magazine, he said: "Being completely honest, I had seen very little of him before he arrived here. Naturally, he needed some time to settle in but he's been brilliant for us, especially over the last few months.

"He's a very, very good player with a lot of skill who also works extremely hard for the team. He's provided goals and I think he's much more robust than people realise, he's quite wiry. Now it's about him continuing to grow and get even better."

Firmino has scored nine goals in 37 appearances for Liverpool, including three in his last three games for the club.
